Das Boot ist der Titel eines Romans von Lothar-Günther Buchheim, der die persönlichen Erlebnisse des Autors als Kriegsberichterstatter auf verschiedenen U-Booten literarisch verarbeitet; er beruht auf den damals von Buchheim gemachten Notizen. Insbesondere behandelt das Buch Ereignisse, die sich im Wesentlichen auf den Unternehmungen der Boote U 96 und U 309 abspielten.
1968 nahm er die Arbeiten am U-Boot-Manuskript wieder auf und beendete 1971 den Roman unter dem Titel „Das Boot“. Die Verfilmung des Romans Das Boot im Jahr 1981 sorgte für die weitere Bekanntheit seines Verfassers. Zusammen mit dem Roman „Die Festung“, erschienen 1995, und dem Roman „Der Abschied“, erschienen 2000, bildet dieses ...
